The Dust Bowl got its name right after Black Sunday which was April 14, 1935. The Dust Bowl was when a great power of dust went and blew everything away. Many people got sick by a dicease called silocosis. Some people actually put damped rags on them to protect them from the dust. They also did this to the windows to keep the dust from coming in.By 1934, it was estimated that 100 million acres of farmland had lost all or most of the topsoil to the winds.By April 1935, there had been weeks of dust storms, but the cloud that appeared on the horizon that Sunday was the worst.
